June 2022

Pentecost | Pride Sunday | Indigenous Day of Prayer

The congregational meeting was held June 5, 2022 via Zoom.

Before today's council meeting, the opening prayer was preceded by a celebration of memories of two titan elders of Pacific Spirit, Mrs. Ruth McLelland and Rev. Dr. Janet Cawley, both of whom died this week. True pillars of the church, their deep faith and commitment to our congregation were constant and dependable. They held us up in many ways, and their absence among us will be deeply felt by all.

Coordinating Minister's Report | Maggie Enwright, Coordinating Minister

  • We are looking at ways to engage and re-engage our congregants this fall. The Children Youth and Families Committee is exploring the possibility of hosting a block party in late August or early September.
  • Summer Spirit runs from Sunday, July 3 to Sunday, September 11. Musicians, clergy, and scripture readers from Pacific Spirit will participate throughout the summer.
  • At its Annual Meeting, the Pacific Mountain Region officially became an Affirming Ministry.

Arts Committee | Heather Swallow, Chair

  • ARTS ON THE LAWN - July and August Wednesdays at 6 pm to 7 pm: This is a chance to engage with one another and the community as we invite folks to gather for Arts on the Lawn throughout July and August. An array of arts will take place again, including a free cello concert on July 13, the ever-popular "campfire singalong" on July 20th, and a grab bag of other fun stuff. Participants are invited to bring a lawn chair and
    1. Something you are working on
    2. Join in whatever we're planning, or
    3. Come for the camaraderie (and the music!).

  • Check the Wednesday newsletter to see what's planned for that evening.
